STRANGER THAN FICTION
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
IS IT A NOSE & MUSTACHE OR A FLAMINGO?
Clients often ask us this question about our logo
icon, shown at the bottom right of this page. In the spirit of all those
great art teachers out there, we always respond: What do YOU think it
is?
It was originally designed as a flamingo (read the origin of our name
to find out why). However, it does resemble a nose and mustache, and
bears an uncanny resemblance to the Queen's husband. A creative mind
sometimes produces unexpected results!
WHERE DID YOU GET A NAME LIKE DUX D'LUX?
The Queen says that it dates back to her graduate
school days when she and her artistic friends adopted the name of a
one-hit wonder British band called Ducks Deluxe. Of course, we had to
put our own spin on it using the "french" spelling. We've
often told people that it's actually pronounced "doo d'loo".
We've even gone so far as to claim it's french for "flamingo".
However, if you ask any french professors to verify, you'll be highly
disappointed. Needless to say, it has been the cause of much discussion
over Dux's 25-year history.
DOES DUX D'LUX REALLY HAVE ROYAL CONNECTIONS?
Absolutely! At least according to our articles of
incorporation. When asked by her attorney what she wanted her title
to be, Debra Shafer promptly answered "Queen". Without further
discussion, Mr. McAlpin created the only legal Queen in Mississippi
(that we know of). Although there are no castles in our background,
the articles of incorporation do allow for certain corporate level beheadings
should the clients not be completely satisfied.
HOW LONG HAS DUX D'LUX BEEN IN BUSINESS?
Dux D'Lux began in 1978 with a handful of advertising
and screen printing clients. Party t-shirts were cranked out by the
Queen's one-woman operation. Over the years we have responded to clients'
needs for more diversified services by adding promotional products and
website development to our tool box.
WHAT TYPES OF CLIENTS DOES DUX D'LUX
WORK WITH?
Over the years, Dux D'Lux has worked with clients
from many different industries and fields, from restaurant and retail
to manufacturing and professional organizations. We have also worked
with company's at many stages of growth, from start-up businesses to
multi-national corporations. Many of our clients choose to take advantage
of all of our service areas (advertising, but also website design, logo
wearables, and promotional products) so that they don't have to worry
about the legwork involved in administering a marketing program. Others
prefer to handle the coordination themselves and use selected services.
Either way, we treat each project with the same level of attention.
In our design PORTFOLIO, you can
view many of our projects by industry.
